From its founding until 1964, chambers was led by K.E. Shelley KC. He was followed by Guy Aldous QC, who in turn was succeeded by Douglas Falconer QC in 1967. When Douglas Falconer was appointed to the High Court Bench as a Patents Judge in 1980, William Aldous QC took over as head of chambers. David Young QC was head of chambers from when William Aldous was also appointed to the High Court until 2004.

Antony Watson QC was head of chambers from 2004 to 2008, when Simon Thorley took over.

Chambers has expanded gradually to its present size of sixteen members. All the current members of chambers joined chambers as pupils.

Formerly of 6 Pump Court, Temple, chambers relocated to 3 New Square, Lincoln's Inn in April 1995.
